Lunch at Ocean Restaurant, The Entrance

By February 17, 2022Out & About

I had a lunch meeting today, and we chose to go to Ocean Restaurant at the The Entrance, about half an hour North of my place on the Central Coast.  I had been there once, but it was years ago.  The scenery is every bit as stunning as I remembered, and it’s especially spectacular today as the wild weather is making the seas huge and choppy.  It’s quite a show.

Marcus, Mick and I settle in for a long leisurely lunch.  (What I actually mean is, we settle down for an afternoon of pure hard work.)  There’s a very generous fixed lunch menu, $40 for two courses or $50 for three, and contains such lovely things as Mussel and Shellfish chowder with Toasted Bacon Crustacean oil, Free range chicken with Kaffir Lime and Lemon grass sauce and Gingerbread Parfait, among other treats.  However we decide to go for the A La Carte menu – there are some dishes on there that are just a bit too hard to resist.

It’s a wild and woolly afternoon…the view from Ocean Restaurant.

The sky is as black as the inside of a cow, so it’s not ideal for photography, but below is a visual menu of what the three of us enjoyed.

My entree – Sea Treasures

Mick opts for the slipper lobster with noodles and chilli caramel

Deep sea bugs in puff pastry with vanilla lobster oil and bisque

Marcus’s Kobe beef with truffled mushrooms

Pan fried snapper, poached prawns and prawn foam

Southern highlands lamb slow-cooked shoulder and seared fillet

Now, I have been instructed to tell you that we did not eat dessert.  But if we had, this is what we would have had…

Marcus would have had Fig and Date pudding with banana ice cream and butterscotch sauce

Mick would have had Cassata

I would have had Textures of white chocolate, raspberry and coconut.

My picks for the day are definitely Mick’s entrée of slipper lobster with noodles, Marcus’s  beef main, and my dessert!  (The one I would have had, of course, if we’d had dessert…)

It’s a lovely afternoon, definitely productive, and truly a top spot to sit and watch huge waves and the crazy surfers trying to catch them.  For more information or to look at the menus, go to http://oceanrestaurant.com.au .
